Our History

Formed in 1932, the North Apollo Volunteer Fire Department has spent more than nine decades protecting North Apollo Borough and its neighbors along the Kiski River. We operate as Station 170 out of our firehall on 16th Street, staffed entirely by volunteers from right here in the community.

Our members respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, brush fires, medical assists, and severe weather events across the borough and on mutual aid to surrounding Armstrong and Westmoreland County departments — while also teaching fire safety, hosting community dinners, and running the fundraisers that keep our apparatus and gear ready.
